Back to: Website Maker
In this step you will be purchasing hosting for your website. This is actually the physical location of your website. So what you are doing here is literally renting space on a server somewhere in the world for you website to live on.
Can’t I just host it on my computer?
Well technically you can but, it’s seriously not a good idea. Think about it, when you go to a website you are actually accessing a server, by self-hosting your website, people would actually be accessing your computer. Plus, your computer would have to be on 24/7 in order to keep your website live. So, unfortunately, you will have to suck it up like the rest of us and pay a small monthly fee for hosting.
Unlike buying a domain name, it is super important when it comes to where you buy your website hosting. We have tried a lot of different website hosts over the years and have settled on Site Ground. Why? They provide fast hosting (which means fast website speeds), free & easy to set up SSL certificates (green padlock) which usually start at $70 per year, they have great support and a whole lot of other great features that other hosting companies don’t offer. We are affiliates for Site Ground because we love what they do but yet again you are welcome to check out other hosting services.
